Desde los 16 años soñaba con ver de cerca a estas aves que, con el tiempo, se convirtieron en mis favoritas. Su nombre oficial es Frailecillo Atlántico (Fratercula arctica), una de las cuatro especies de frailecillos —o puffins— que existen en el mundo.
En 2023, viajé a Skomer Island, una reserva natural de 2.92 km² ubicada en Gales, Reino Unido. Este santuario es uno de los sitios de reproducción de aves marinas más importantes del sur de Gran Bretaña, hogar de miles de FRAILECILLOS, pardelas y alcas.
Este fue un proyecto profundamente personal, resultado de años de anhelo y amor por las aves. Documentar a los frailecillos en su hábitat natural fue mucho más que un viaje: fue la realización de un sueño de vida, una conexión íntima con la naturaleza y una reafirmación de mi compromiso con la fotografía de conservación.
Since I was 16, I had dreamed of seeing these birds up close—birds that, over time, became my absolute favorites. Their official name is Atlantic Puffin (Fratercula arctica), one of the four puffin species that exist in the world.
In 2023, I had the opportunity to fulfill that dream on Skomer Island, a 2.92 km² nature reserve located in Wales, United Kingdom. This sanctuary is one of the most important seabird breeding sites in southern Britain, home to thousands of puffins, shearwaters, and razorbills.
This was a deeply personal project—born from years of longing, learning, and love for birds. Documenting puffins in their natural habitat was more than just a trip; it was the fulfillment of a lifelong dream, an intimate connection with nature, and a reaffirmation of my commitment to conservation photography.
